Geeks and gamers around the world shed a tear on Tuesday, after learning that Gary Gygax, one of the of the creators of Dungeons & Dragons, had passed away. For any of the estimated 20 million people who have ever gathered around a table in a friend's basement to roll a few D-20's, Gary brought joy and fond memories into our lives.
Geeks with Issues would like to officially extend our sincierest thanks to Gary for changing the world of fantasy from something that was read about into something that could be experienced. The next episode of Geeks with Issues, #015, will be dedicated to his memory.
Wow... I was in shock for a few moments after I heard this (of all places, the WoW forum)...
It's a shame to see a man who changed Geekdom so much pass on.. Well, I can just imagine that arrival.
Peter: Name?
Gary: Gary Gygax
Peter: Hmmm, it says here that you created Dungeons and Dragons, which many people said encouraged satanism.
Jesus: Peter! Let him through! I've been digging out my old D&D books since I heard he was dead! We have an eternity to play, so I hope you have a good campaign made up!
Gary: Yea, on second thought, I think I'll go see Satan...
Jesus: Lucifer's here too! He rolled a Paladin that he intends to turn into a Death Knight!
